Private Seceda Ridge Hike with Cable Car & Lunch
Seceda valley station, Ortisei
Lift tickets, a private guide and lunch in one booking; the ridge, Pieralongia and Lech Sant
The e-bike route that reaches the top: from Selva towards Juac and the Col Raiser mountain station, up to Seceda, lunch in a hut, then down through Santa Cristina on a panoramic bike path
A quieter half day above Ortisei: forest and panoramic paths towards Col de Flam to St. Jacob's, the oldest church in Val Gardena, with no cable car to book
Ortisei's other lift goes up to the wide Alpe di Siusi plateau under Sassolungo: the Hans & Paula Steger trail, huts and farms, lunch included; confirm lift tickets, the listing names them as both included and excluded
The plain Seceda lift ticket is sold by the lift company at seceda.it, not on GetYourGuide. In summer 2026 lift tickets
are tied to a 30-minute slot and cannot be refunded or changed; the tours above follow their own cancellation terms.
Good to know
Three gates, one ticket.
Seceda is a 2,519 m summit in the Puez-Odle Nature Park, reached from Ortisei by a two-section cableway: a gondola to
Furnes, then a cable car up the last 700 vertical metres. From the top a ten-minute walk leads to the edge, where a green slope
ends in a sheer drop and the Odle needles rise behind, the Sass Rigais and Furchetta both at 3,025 m.
In 2026 a visit passes three different gates, and only one of them is a lift ticket. The cable car now sells ascents online in
fixed 30-minute slots, and the published rules say tickets are neither refundable nor changeable. The photo spot on the ridge
crosses private hay meadows, and local farmers charge a per-person fee at a turnstile there, reinstalled in June 2026 with a second pay
point on another route in July. The rest of the mountain is free to walk, including the paths to Pieralongia and the huts,
and Seceda can be reached on foot or from the separate Col Raiser gondola above Santa Cristina.

Minutes per time slot on the Ortisei - Furnes - Seceda cable car in 2026, each with a limited number of tickets.
Pick the slot with the forecast in mind: it cannot be moved.
The edge everyone comes for: grass on one side, a drop of several hundred metres on the other.
01
Book the slot, then the day
The lift company sells ascents at seceda.it in 30-minute slots from 22 May to 2 November 2026, 8:30 to 17:30. The valley station sells tickets only for slots that have not sold out online.
02
Check your card
The Gardena Card needs an advance booking, the Val Gardena Guest Pass can be used online or at the ticket office, and the Dolomiti SuperSummer card is not valid on the Seceda lifts.
03
Stay on the path
The meadows are hay fields that farmers mow. The turnstile fee applies to the private photo spot, not to the whole mountain, and you do not pay twice.
04
Going up without a lift ticket
Strong walkers with a full day: Seceda can be reached on foot from Ortisei, or from the Col Raiser gondola above Santa Cristina plus about an hour's walk.
The day
Seceda in four steps
From the middle of Ortisei to the edge of the ridge takes two lifts and a short walk. The rest of the day is the
meadows, the huts and the way back down.
01
To the valley station
From Piazza S. Antonio the La Curta escalators and moving walkways climb 59 m in a covered tunnel to the station on Via Val d'Anna 2, about 5 minutes on foot.

Huts and the way down
An easy loop via Pieralongia to the Odles hut is 5.8 km, about 1.5 hours; another passes the Trojer and Fermeda huts. Then the same lifts back, or a long walk down.
How to get there, who the tours suit, a sample day and what to pack.
On foot in Ortisei: from Piazza S. Antonio take the La Curta escalator tunnel (6 escalators, 295 m) to the valley station, about 5 minutes.
By bus: the lift company recommends public transport because parking in Ortisei is limited; according to the lift company, some bus lines stop at the station and others in Piazza S. Antonio. From 5 July 2026 a bus runs every 8 minutes between Selva and Ortisei.
By car: covered garage and outdoor parking at the valley station, over 250 spaces in all. In high summer arrive early or come by bus.
On a tour: the private hike and the e-bike tour meet at the Seceda valley station; the Verona day trip picks up in Verona, Vicenza, Padua, Venice or Mestre.
Families: children under 8 ride the lift free with an adult. The short summit walk and the loops via Pieralongia are graded easy by the lift company; keep children close at the ridge edge.
Fitness: the private hike is medium to challenging and not for low fitness; the e-bike tour asks for mountain-bike experience and is 16+; the St. Jacob's hike is easy to moderate.
Limited mobility: the Verona day trip states it is not suitable for wheelchair users or people with mobility impairments; ask the lift company about step-free access at the stations.
Photographers: the private photo session picks the viewpoint for you; for alpenglow on the Odle, check the last ascent and descent times first.
Morning: an early slot from Ortisei, the summit viewpoint while the light is clear and the crowds are thin.
Midday: the easy loop via Pieralongia to the Odles hut, lunch at a hut terrace, or the restaurant at the top station.
Afternoon: the cable car back down, or the walk down to Ortisei for strong knees; evening in Ortisei.
Guided version: the private ridge hike does the same day with the lift tickets and lunch included, at your pace.
Hiking shoes with good grip: the paths are gravel and grass, slippery when wet.
Layers and a rain jacket: weather at 2,500 m changes fast, even when Ortisei is warm.
Sunscreen, water and snacks; the huts sell food but the private hike lists water and snacks to bring.
Your lift ticket or booking on your phone, and the slot time in your head: tickets are valid only for the slot you chose.

Getting there
The valley station in Ortisei
Seceda cable car, valley station
Via Val d'Anna 2, 39046 Ortisei
The start of both sections and the meeting point of the private ridge hike and the Seceda e-bike tour. A covered garage and an outdoor car
park offer over 250 spaces; from the centre, the La Curta escalators and moving walkways climb from Piazza S. Antonio in about 5 minutes.
Furnes: the middle station, where the gondola meets the cable car; some hikers start walking from here
Col Raiser: a separate gondola from Santa Cristina, open 22 May to 1 November 2026, about an hour on foot from the ridge
Alpe di Siusi cable car: Ortisei's other lift, near the Setil car park, up to the plateau under Sassolungo
When to go, practical tips, what is nearby and the small print.
June and early July: fresh green meadows and long days; the lifts run 8:30 to 17:30 throughout the summer season.
Late July and August: the busiest weeks; book an early slot and go on a weekday if you can.
September and October: usually calmer than high summer, with golden larches in October; the summer season ends on 2 November 2026.
Winter: the cable car serves the ski area from about early December to early April; non-skiers can ride up, and the ridge needs microspikes in snow.
Book the slot after checking the forecast: a cloudy summit is the same price, and the ticket cannot be changed.
The famous view along the ridge is on private land with a turnstile; good views of the Odle are free from the public paths nearby.
The Fermeda chairlift had uncertain dates in summer 2026: the lift company listed it as closed while the valley's lift table showed a short season. Check before you plan around it.
If you hold the Dolomiti SuperSummer card, budget for a separate Seceda ticket: the card is not valid on these lifts.
For a quieter day, the Col Raiser route or the St. Jacob's hike avoid the Seceda valley-station queue.
Ortisei (Urtijei): the main village of Val Gardena, with the La Curta escalators up to the Seceda valley station.
St. Jacob's church: the oldest church in Val Gardena, on the slope above Ortisei; the private hike goes there without a lift.
Alpe di Siusi: a wide plateau under Sassolungo, reached by Ortisei's other cable car; easier walking than Seceda.
Val di Funes: the valley on the far side of the Odle, with the church of Santa Maddalena; the Verona day trip stops there.
Lago di Braies: a mountain lake further east; a 6-hour bus tour runs there from Ortisei.
Seceda lift tickets in 2026: valid only for the chosen slot, neither refundable nor changeable, according to the published rules.
Guided tours: each GetYourGuide listing states its own terms; most tours on this page offer free cancellation 24 hours ahead.
Turnstile: a per-person fee at the private photo spot, payable by cash or card; you do not pay twice on the second route.
Meadows: stay on marked paths, take your rubbish with you and do not picnic in uncut grass.

The other side of Ortisei
E-bike to Alpe di Siusi
Ortisei sits between two famous high places: Seceda to the north and the Alpe di Siusi plateau to the south. This tour starts
next to the Seceda valley station and rides south instead, without any cable car or time slot.
Alpe di Siusi Guided E-Bike Group Tour
Val d'Anna 2, next to the Seceda valley station · 5.5 hours · GetYourGuide
It starts a few steps from the Seceda valley station but rides the other way: up to the Alpe di Siusi plateau on gravel roads and panoramic paths, lunch at a mountain hut, and back down to Ortisei. E-bike, helmet, guide and insurance are part of it; no cable car is used.
Search for Seceda and every result shows the same picture: a green slope that ends in a cliff, with a row of rock needles
behind. The picture is real and it is a short ride from Ortisei. What the results rarely say is that in 2026 the ride is booked in fixed
slots, the most famous angle is on a farmer's land, and the mountain can still be reached without a lift ticket. This is how to read the options.
What Seceda is
Seceda is a 2,519 m summit on the Val Gardena side of the Odle group, the "needles" in Ladin, whose highest points, Sass Rigais and
Furchetta, both reach 3,025 m. It lies in the Puez-Odle Nature Park, part of the Dolomites World Heritage Site. From the south the mountain
is a long tilted meadow; at the top that meadow simply stops, and the north side falls away in pale limestone walls towards Val di Funes.
Standing on the edge, you look along a ridge that seems to have been cut with a knife, with the Odle spires lined up behind it. From the
top station, that view needs only a short walk.
The view along the ridge: ten minutes from the top station, and the reason for the queue.
How the lifts and the 2026 slots work
The Seceda lifts start in Ortisei on Via Val d'Anna 2. A gondola climbs 450 m to Furnes, where a cable car takes over for the final 700 m.
In summer 2026 both run from 22 May to 2 November, 8:30 to 17:30. New this year, ascents are sold online at seceda.it in fixed 30-minute
slots, each with a limited number of tickets; if your preferred slot is full, you take the next free one, and the valley station only sells
what has not gone online. The published rules are strict: tickets are neither refundable nor changeable and are valid only for the slot you
chose. Holders of the Gardena Card book in advance, the Val Gardena Guest Pass can be used online or at the ticket office, and the Dolomiti
SuperSummer card is not valid on these lifts at all. Children under 8 ride free with an adult ticket.
Note: GetYourGuide does not sell the plain Seceda lift ticket; the lift company does. What this site lists
are tours. Two of them, the private ridge hike and the Verona day trip, include the cable car according to their listings, so you do not
book a lift slot yourself. The e-bike tour states that cable car fees are not included.
The turnstile, and what is still free
The grass on Seceda is not a lawn. It is hay that farmers cut, and the crowds that walk off the path to take the famous photograph have been
flattening it. In early July 2025 a farmer who owns the land the path crosses put up a turnstile with a per-person fee. In June 2026 local
farmers, under the company name Seceda Pana, installed it again with signs about mountain farming and wooden photo frames, and in July
2026 a second pay point appeared on a second route to the same spot; you do not pay twice. The fee covers that private photo location and
nothing else. The summit viewpoint, the paths to Pieralongia, the huts and the long walks along the meadows remain free.
Hay meadows on private land: the reason for the fences, the signs and the turnstile.
Which tour, and when to skip the lift
If you want the lift, a guide and lunch handled in one booking, the private ridge hike walks the edge, Pieralongia and Lech Sant at your pace.
If you are staying in Verona or Venice and want three famous places in one long day, the small-group trip includes the Seceda cable car and adds
Val di Funes and Lago di Carezza. If you ride, the Seceda e-bike tour climbs from Ortisei to Lech Sant and Rifugio Firenze, and the Seceda
Evolution tour from Selva reaches the top via Col Raiser. If you would rather avoid slots altogether, the private hike to St. Jacob's church stays
on the slope above Ortisei, the Col Raiser gondola from Santa Cristina gets you within about an hour's walk of the ridge, and fit walkers can
climb all the way from Ortisei. The no-lift guide compares those routes.
Pieralongia: on the easy loop below the ridge, and the lunch stop of the private hike.
Straight answers to what people ask most about the Seceda cable car.
Do I need to book the Seceda cable car in advance?
In summer 2026, yes in practice. Ascents on the Ortisei - Furnes - Seceda cable car are sold online at seceda.it in fixed 30-minute time slots with a limited number of tickets per slot. The valley station sells tickets only for slots that have not sold out online. The ticket guide covers slots, passes and cards.
Can I change or refund a Seceda cable car ticket?
Not according to the 2026 rules published for Val Gardena: purchased tickets are neither refundable nor changeable and are valid only for the selected time slot. Choose the slot with the weather forecast in mind. The guided tours on this site are a different contract: each one lists its own cancellation terms on GetYourGuide.
Is Seceda free to visit?
The mountain has no entrance fee and the ridge paths are open to walkers. The cable car is paid, and since summer 2025 local farmers have charged a per-person fee at a turnstile on their private land at the famous photo spot; a second pay point on a second route followed in July 2026. Good to know explains what that covers.
Does GetYourGuide sell the Seceda cable car ticket?
Not as a plain lift ticket: that is sold by the lift company at seceda.it. Two tours on this page include the cable car in the price, the private guided ridge hike and the small-group day trip from Verona, according to their listings.
Can you hike to Seceda without the cable car?
Yes. Seceda can be reached on foot from Ortisei, which is a full day with well over 1,000 m of climbing, or from the Col Raiser gondola above Santa Cristina, a separate lift, plus about an hour on foot. The no-lift guide compares the routes.
How long does a Seceda visit take with the cable car?
The ride has two sections, Ortisei to Furnes and Furnes to Seceda. From the top station the summit viewpoint is about 10 minutes on foot. The easy loop via Pieralongia to the Odles hut is 5.8 km and about 1.5 hours according to the lift company; plan at least half a day.
When is the Seceda cable car open?
In summer 2026 both sections run from 22 May to 2 November, 8:30 to 17:30. In winter the cable car serves the ski area, roughly from early December to early April. The season guide goes month by month.
Is the Seceda cable car worth it?
For the view, many visitors say yes: the ridge drops away in sheer cliffs in front of the Odle needles, and the viewpoint is a short walk from the top station. It is busy in July and August, slots are fixed and the photo spot has a fee. Is Seceda worth it? covers the trade-offs.
Seceda or Alpe di Siusi?
Both start in Ortisei with their own lifts. Seceda is a ridge and a view of rock needles; Alpe di Siusi is a wide green plateau under Sassolungo, better for long easy walks. Each needs its own lift and its own half day or more. Seceda or Alpe di Siusi helps you choose.
Where do I park for the Seceda cable car?
The valley station on Via Val d'Anna 2 in Ortisei has a covered garage and an outdoor car park, over 250 spaces in all. Parking in Ortisei is limited, so the lift company recommends public transport: from Piazza S. Antonio the La Curta escalators reach the station in about 5 minutes.
Can children and dogs ride the Seceda cable car?
Children under 8 ride free with an adult ticket, according to the lift company. The guided tours set their own limits: the e-bike tour is 16+ and the Verona day trip is not suitable for people with limited mobility. Check dog rules with the lift company before you go.
Are there restaurants on Seceda?
Yes. There is a restaurant at the top station with a sun terrace, and huts such as Malga Pieralongia, the Odles hut and the Fermeda and Trojer huts lie on the easy loops below the ridge. The private ridge hike includes lunch at Malga Pieralongia.
